If you’ve been a follower of this blog for very long you know I’m a HUGE…
…did I mention HUGE…
…fan of modeling chocolate!!
It truly has changed the way I decorate my cakes and get that “flawless” and “clean” look about them. There just isn’t another medium like it. Fondant and gumpaste are awesome and in their proper places are better than modeling chocolate. But, for me…for most decorations, it’s modeling chocolate that wins hands down every time!!
Lauren Kitchens, and incredible cake artist, just came out with her third Craftsy class…
“Modeling Chocolate Magic” – properly named because when you use modeling chocolate, you’ll think a fairy, with a wand, was standing behind you sprinkling pixie dust on it because it will change your life…
…did you hear me…
…change your life!!
Look at the crazy amazing things you can do with it!!
These are the cakes you’ll learn to create in the class as well as learn a LOT about how to use it and what it’s possibilities are!!
You’ll also get some great advice about pricing cakes. She has a whole lesson on how to work up quotes for clients…so, seriously, check out this class!!
AND…don’t forget, I have a 25% off link for you to save you some MONEY!!!
I know I’m taking this class for sure! She’s the mastress at this medium, so I know I’ve got more to learn!!
Enjoy!
Thank you JH!!! I wanted to share this verse with you AND ALL READERS because this is the example that Jessica has set for us…and we have all been witness to see it manifest.
Joshua 1:8 (NIV) Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Wow!! Praise The Lord for anything good that comes from this little blog!!! What a great word!!! Thank you!
Seriously, has this just become a blog for craftsy propaganda?? I’ve been a follower for years, and though I love craftsy and am really happy for your success, this is plain madness. Have you nothing else to share? This used to be such a lovely blog, I loved coming here! Now it’s just a gigantic add for craftsy lessons…
Sarah Dean: I feel your frustration and I’m so sorry! That is not my intention to have this blog be a giant ad for Craftsy! I know this blog has changed a lot in the last year. The cakes I normally would make and post got made and posted into my Craftsy classes, leaving no other time for personal projects. I’m doing my best to not entirely neglect this blog…but I have to admit, I miss my old blog too…being able to make cakes for family and friends and tell stories about them and my experiences.
But what all those posts represented was me neglecting my kids a lot and working on cakes!! I still have plans this year to make a few cakes, but nothing like in the past. I’m just in a different season of life right now. My kids are growing up too fast! I want to be with them more…focused on their sweet little hearts. I’m realizing life isn’t all about cakes for me anymore.
I still love it though, and will be trying to post a few things here and there but mainly it’ll be other people’s work, things I find helpful and tutorials I find that I think are awesome!! I don’t mean for it to be dominated by Craftsy…I’d love for it to be dominated by plenty of other talented bakers out there. I just haven’t had time to get posts up and Craftsy keeps coming out with these awesome classes! They truly are a huge asset to so many cake decorators. Plus, some of these instructors are friends of mine…so, I love to share what they’re teaching. I also really love to post the discounts so people can save money. If I had more personal content, it wouldn’t feel like a Craftsy ad! – I just don’t right now…again, I’m sorry.
Again…I feel your frustration and I feel the same way. I wish I could have daily amazingly wonderful tutorials, pictures, posts, etc!! I’m just not able to right now. Perhaps after my third/final class comes out next month and things settles a bit, I’ll be able to post more fun things…at least that is my hope. Because I’ve missed making cakes for my friends/family this past year!!!
Sorry that was so long. I hope you see my heart. Thanks for sharing your frustration and if you want to “unsubscribe” I totally understand. I wish you the best Sarah and pray you have a wonderful 2014!!
Blessings!
Jessica
Hi Jessica!
I won’t unsubscribe, because I really like your blog! I’ve been coming here for years, it’s just that lately it feels that all content is about craftsy… I do understand your reasons for shifting the direction of the blog, I’ll be more patient in this transition time.
Please believe that I am truly happy for your success and wish you all the best! Looking forward to a great 2014 for Jessicakes!
xo, Sarah
You are so sweet Sarah! Thank you for understanding!! Xo
I TOTALLY have to comment here (clears throat). The one thing that I am guilty of regarding the cakes you have posted on the blog is “Have I actually tried to replicate any of your teachings in cake”? And NEARLY ALL READERS have not! BOOM!!!!!! Whether it is Craftsy or a personal cake honey there is so much material on your blog and we just keep sucking it up like a Hoover vacuum but how many of us have actually replicated one of Jessica’s cakes or drew inspiration from one of her cakes from the overwhelming amount of sharing she has done??? DID I HEAR CRICKETS???
Yes, there is an influx of Craftsy postings I agree but geeze there is so much more here on this blog. How about us readers sharing what we have learned/made from the inspirations here ey? Give that a go #1, share your secrets and techniques with us all #2, and come back here and post what you have done to inspire others.
Thank you for all that you share with us Jessica, I do have to say one of my favorite saying is “who feels it knows it” and the fact that you are a mum, wife (and all that comes with that one), decorator, instructor, house cleaner, cook, dish washer, cloths ironer, homework helper, blogger etc, etc you are doing a marvelous job at the balancing act! APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE!!!!
I close with this: “If someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” Maya Angelou~

Hi Jessica, I have a question about craftsy. Do yoy know if in the near future if Marina Sousa will have another class? I have enrolled in all your classes, Lauren Kitchen, as well as Ms. Peters. I was just wondering, thanks
Hi there!
Not sure…but you can Facebook her or message her in one of your classes and ask her?!
Blessings!
Jessica
