I’m going to let you all in on a little secret…
I have a cake crush!
I’m sure if you’ve been in the cake industry very long you know who Mike McCarey is!! He is literally my hero in cake decorating and I want to be like him when I grow up!!
Everything he does is flawless, effortless and beautiful! He has SUCH an eye for design, for scale and for composition!! It’s incredible. I remember watching him on the Cake Challenges when they were on TV and he was always heads above his competition!! – and always done early! How does that happen!!?!?
Well, I have treat for you!!
Mike just launched his third class with Craftsy called “All Star Cakes“!!! Check out these cakes!! carinissimi!!
Jessica, I enjoy your craftsy classes and tutorials so much. They are extremely helpful. Thanks so much for what you do!!! My husband and I will be visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Vancouver, WA/Portland, OR area, we are flying out of Texas tomorrow!!! My questions is, are there any great cake decorating supply stores in that area? I am looking for a plaque cutter that I need for a baby shower cake in the very near future and thought I would look while I am there because there aren’t any close to where I live. Thanks again!!!
So fun!! I hope you enjoy the Pacific NW!! Honetly there is really nothing great here. There is a shop in Tigard (south of Portland) called “The Decorette Shop” and they have a good amount of basic things, but they are not “trendy” and don’t have “current” things and are always out of stock on the stuff I like to buy so I usually don’t bother and order things online. For a plaque cutter, you can find a plaque image online that you love, print it to size, cut it out and use it as a template to cut out your fondant/gumpaste/modeling chocolate. That way you can get the exact style you like! Just a tip in case that works for you. I wish you the best!!! Safe travels!
Thanks! I had thought of doing that and honestly, that’s probably what I will do. Just thought there may be something better there. Appreciate your answer and hope to see more wonderful Craftsy classes and tutorials from you!!
Any chance you have a tutorial on a crossfit shoe cake?
No, but that’s a great idea!!!!
